Kelantan Small Hydropower Project
SHP
Kelantan SHP will be developed based on run-of-river low head small hydropower plants on a cascade system along Sungai Galas, a tributary of Sungai Kelantan.
Sungai Kelantan is the longest river in the State of Kelantan and one of the river in the world that flows northward. Sungai Kelantan flows passing through main towns and the Kelantan State Capital, Kota Bharu before discharging into the South China Sea.
Two further rivers drain into Sungai Galas; Sungai Nenggiri and Sungai Pergau. Sungai Galas and Sungal Lebir meet at Kuala Krai Town to form the Sungai Kelantan.
The Project is in Dabong District, the central part of Kelantan State approximately 50 km to Jeli Town, 60 km to Gua Musang town and 80 km to Kuala Krai Town.
The Project involves construction of a series of three (3) SHP; Serasa, Kemubu & Kuala Geris along Sungai Galas and will be supplying the generated renewable energy to the TNB National Grid.
Kelantan SHP will use the water available in the natural flow of Sungai Galas in a controlled environment to generate electricity (Renewable Energy, RE).
